Dr Gerard Leong is an experienced cardiologist with sub-specialties in echocardiography, heart failure, cardiomyopathy, as well as cardio-oncology and resistant hypertension treatment.

He underwent training in Singapore and obtained a medical degree and specialist cardiology accreditation.

At the same time, he also completed advanced heart failure and transplant cardiology at Massachusetts General Hospital; An affiliate hospital of Harvard Medical School, in Boston, United States in 2008.

In 2013, Dr Gerard Leong also underwent clinical training and direct practice in the field of interventional cardiology which focused on renal sympathetic denervation in resistant hypertension and heart failure at Alfred, Melbourne Australia.

Dr Leong also underwent echocardiography training, passed ASCeXAM certification, and obtained Diplomate certification from the US National Board of Echocardiography in June 2015.

He has a special interest in ischemic heart disease, especially the use of stenting or bypass surgery, heart failure, cardiomyopathy, cardio-obstetrics, cardio-oncology, hypertension treatment, and strategies to reduce the risk of stroke, and dementia.

Together with colleagues, Dr Leong is a founding board member of the Heart Failure Society (Singapore), and served 2 terms, 2017-2018, and 2019-2020.
